Ravana Cave is situated 2 kilometers south of Ella town center. Access is via the A23 road, turning onto a smaller, unpaved track for approximately 500 meters. Limited parking is available at the base of the approach path. The final approach involves a 15-minute uphill walk on a moderately steep trail.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The cave is believed to be a natural geological formation, likely formed by erosion over millennia. Local tradition associates it with the epic Ramayana, suggesting it was a hiding place for the demon king Ravana. Archaeological evidence within the cave includes pottery fragments dating back to the 1st century BCE.
